Laketown Elementary is seated in a 52 acre wooded site, boarded by wetlands, on the Eastern edge of Waconia which is the direction with the most growth and outward migration. This new 600 student K-5 elementary school, with a core for 800, is the third in the district. It has been designed to provide 21st Century Learning space, with equity in mind. Similar to the other schools, each grade is provided a neighborhood gathering or commons space. Individualized learning is promoted with a variety of breakout spaces and opportunities for small group or individual work space. Flexibility, community use, expanded programmatic opportunities and future expansion were high priorities in the design phase.
